“Yoga is when the mind bows to the heart”. My yoga practice began at the age of 13, as a habitual tool to calm my nervous jitters before tennis tournaments. At the end of my first yoga class, as a returned back from reality- after a body-moving, mind resting, and soul renewing hour- I found myself feeling peaceful with anxiety gone… I was hooked! I continued to practice throughout high school as a useful tool to assist my athletic hobbies, but it wasn’t until college that I fully began to immerse myself in this “yoga” that I had grown to love. I began teaching as a sub at Cal Poly’s recreational center my first year of school. Slowly I gained knowledge and confidence from my experiences, and the following year was given my own class to teach twice a week. My personal practice began to grow into a yogic lifestyle, and with that I learned that as I teacher, I will first always be a student. After two years of teaching, I finally chased after my dreams and flew down to Nosara Costa Rica, where I completed my 200-hr teacher training at the Nosara Yoga Institute in 2010. In my personal practice I seek to find Samadhi (balance/harmony) between my mind, body and spirit, and to live and embody the concept of Namaste in my thoughts, words, and actions. As a yoga teacher, my goal is to simply guide, allowing the student to be his or her own teacher in the inquiry into their own yoga practice and experience. It is my upmost joy to share my yoga practice with others, and to watch as each individual blossoms to find that everything they’re looking for already exists within."
